2017 Special Smiles - Burlington, VT

It was inspiration and life-affirming to witness this year's free dental screenings at the Summer Olympics Vermont, Summer Games.  Each year, volunteers from dentistry gather to perform free oral health screenings for these Special Olympic Athletes.
This year over 225 athletes received free oral health screenings and hygiene instruction at the Saturday, June 3rd games!
The team we had to work with was outstanding, featuring 10 Vermont Dentists, 19 dental school students from Tufts, UNE, Buffalo and Harvard, 10 Vermont hygienists and hygiene students from VTC and 4 dental assistants and students from CT-E in addition to numerous volunteers from the VSDS, NFP Insurance and Northeast Delta Dental.
Many thanks to Special Olympics Vermont for their leadership and organization of the event, Joy Dubin Grossman for her dedication to media coverage of the event, and the many folks behind the scenes!
