Dental Assisting Instructor
Randolph Technical Career Center
Description: Randolph Technical Career Center has a Dental Assisting faculty opening beginning with the 2021-2022 school year. This is a new program to RTCC and the instructor would be integral in the development of the program. The program is contingent upon grant funding for its first two years as the program grows and develops.
The Dental Assisting program is a full-time high school program preparing secondary students for post-secondary study and employment in the industry. The RTCC Dental Assisting program prepares students to provide patient care, conduct dental x-rays, prepare patients and equipment for dental procedures, and discharge office administrative functions under the supervision of dentists and dental hygienists. The Dental Assisting program includes instruction in medical recordkeeping, general office duties, reception and patient intake, scheduling, equipment maintenance and sterilization, basic radiography, oral photography, pre- and post- operative patient care and instruction, chairside assisting, performing tooth and mouth impressions, and professional supervision. Students have the opportunity to practice their dental assisting skills in our school-based lab and at local dental practices. Professional Skills developed by business and industry leaders across Vermont are integrated throughout the program. Dental Assisting students develop leadership, social, civic, and career skills through participation in Career and Technical Student Organizations.
Proven collaboration with relevant constituencies and business leaders and/or related business experience is preferred.
5 years of Industry experience as a Dental Assistant or relevant experience in the field is required. Obtaining Licensure as a Career & Technical Education instructor with the Vermont Agency of Education, if not already licensed, will be part of the first 3 years of employment.

Part Time Hospital Dentist Opportunity
Description: UVMMC is recruiting a part-time dentist (2 days per week) to work in both an outpatient and inpatient clinical setting. Experience in care of medically complex patients, special needs care in an operating room setting, and management of inpatient hospital dentistry is necessary. Supervision and education of GPR residents is also included in this position. Interest in a team based approach and collegial educational setting is imperative. The dental clinic at UVMMC houses four GPR residents per year. Rotations include time in the outpatient general dentistry clinic, in an FQHC, and also in the medical center managing hospital dentistry. A dentist who is interested in education, hospital care of dental patients, and a team player would be ideal. Requirements: Successful completion of a CODA approved general practice residency, eligibility for a Vermont dental license. Provides treatment and planning in a specific discipline of patient care or study to include:
• -Diagnosis of oral diseases.
• -Promotion of oral health and disease prevention.
• -Creation treatment plans to maintain or restore the oral health of their patients.
• -Interpretation of x-rays and diagnostic tests.
• -Ensuring the safe administration of anesthetics.
• -Monitoring growth and development of the teeth and jaws.
• -Performing surgical procedures on the teeth, bone and soft tissues of the oral cavity.
